Obituary:

Rodney was born on March 20, 1969, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to the late Ronald G. Fisher and Charlotte Everette. He grew up in Lawton, where he attended Lawton Public Schools from elementary through high school, graduating from MacArthur High School in 1987. His dedication and talent on the football field earned him a full scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, where he proudly earned a degree in Communications. In 1993, Rod returned home to Lawton, the place that shaped him. He worked at Southwestern Behavioral Health Center for 2 years and then began a meaningful 21-year career with Lawton Public Schools, serving as both a counselor and coach. His deep commitment to students and athletes left a lasting impact on many young lives. On August 9,1999, Rod married Susanne after 5 years together. They built a home, raising three wonderful children. Rod's life was one of service, strength, and steadfast love for his family, his community, and every student he mentored along the way. Rod grew up with a ball in his hand. At a young age, he was a Pittsburgh Steelers and USC (University of Southern California) football fan, but with his strong obligation to family, Rod chose the University of Oklahoma to continue his football journey. He loved his Sooners and his time at OU. Rod was an exceptional athlete, he competed in all sports. He excelled in basketball and track, but his first love was football. He won numerous awards, to include Oklahoma Coaches Association's 1986 All-Sports Athlete of the Year when he led the State in rushing yards and touchdowns. Rod enjoyed watching sports of any type, playing dominoes with friends, reality shows, and being with family. He loved his dog, Duke, who kept him company throughout the day.

Rod is survived by his wife Susanne and his three children: Brittani from Atlanta,Georgia, Kevin from Denver, Colorado and Rod Jr. from Oklahoma City, Ok. Five brothers and one sister: Ron (Michelle) from Cincinnati, Ohio, Reggie (Shelley) from Lawton, Ok, Larry Jr. (Jennifer) from Lawton Ok, Damian (Saura) from Broken Arrow, Ok, Karon from Birmingham, Alabama, and Dario (Amelia) Hilton Head, South Carolina. Step-mother Wanda from Birmingham, Alabama. Mother-in-law Christa from Lawton, Ok and sister-in-law Isabella from Denver, Colorado. Godparents Isaac and Lisa Monts from Lawton, Ok and his Granddad, Rufus Fisher from Oakland, California. Plus a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a future grandson (Kevin III). He was preceded in death by his parents Larry/Charlotte Everette and Ronald Fisher, his niece-Bre'Ana Jefferson-Fisher, his uncles Solomon Lusby and Alvin Lusby, and his grandmother Roberta Lusby.
