Efficiency ▪ Season

Based on a simple formula applied to common box score stats, an overall efficiency rating (EFF) can be calculated for each player. This rating adds a player's positive stats and subtracts negative stats.

Positive: Points, Rebounds, Assists, Blocks, Steals

Negative: Missed Field Goals, Missed Free Throws, Turnovers

The formula: (PTS + REB + AST + BLK + STL) - ((FGA - FGM) + (FTA - FTM) + TO)

Although it favors low-post players (rebounds are more frequent than assists), it is a decent barometer of a player's overall performance.
